Final preps

  As I write this, final preparations are underway for the upcoming SXSW conference. Yes, this will be my first trip to SXSW, and frankly I’m not sure what to expect. My fear is that I’ll stick out like a sore thumb – a 52 year old fart amidst a sea of 25 year olds. On the other hand, it certainly is a great way to maintain some sense about where technology is heading.

My plan is the blog periodically throughout the conference. I’ll share general impressions, good things, not so good things, and an occasional review of the local cuisine. Should be a great five days. Oh, and I invite your comments, paticularly those of you who might have found this blog, curious about who had registered the name SXSW. Sometimes it pays to think ahead.

Oh, and one more thing. My primary interest this week will be interactive media, especially New Journalism. I’ll be attending the Blogging 2.0 session on Saturday. Say hello if you’re there. I’ll be the old, gray-headed guy.
